  • Asking for frameworks or coping strategies, rather than comfort or reassurance.

Finally, pair digital reflection with a real-world connection. For every hour you spend unpacking feelings with AI, spend time engaging with people who truly know you, such as friends, family, or a therapist.

Let AI help you organize your thoughts, but let humans help you heal, too.

The key is maintaining what psychologists call metacognition, the awareness of your own thinking. Ask yourself regularly:

  • Am I using this tool to grow, or to avoid?
  • Am I seeking perspective, or permission?
  • Is this deepening my human connections, or replacing them?
