Neurodiverse men bring positivity by painting kindness rocks.
A group of neurodiverse men recently installed a kindness rock garden outside South Run Rec Center in Fairfax County, Virginia.
Mike and Nic, along with David and Robert, took part in a creative project organized by Next Step Therapy.
The project offered them a therapeutic outlet and a chance to express themselves creatively.
From handcrafting the wooden structure to painting rocks with uplifting messages, these men created a vibrant symbol of hope, kindness, and community!
“We’re just trying to share joy the way that we get to experience each day with each other and hoping to bring some kindness and smiles to the community,” said Olivia Kurzeja, Next Step Therapy.
Man aims to improve the quality of life for homeless people.
Vincent Pannizzo was a graduate student at UC Berkeley when he was inspired to help the homeless community. He dropped out of his PhD program and started the nonprofit, Mission for the Homeless.
Vincent is dedicated to providing support to enable homeless people to live fuller lives.
Since 2012, he has been delivering food, medical aid, clothes, blankets, and tents to those in need.
He also rents several homes to house 10 people whom he’s taken off the streets.
“He saved me the night I was in the rain, very depressed. He’s turned my life around. He made me happy,” said Eric, one of the residents.
Young boy’s act of kindness takes an unexpectedly wholesome turn.
Sawyer Foss chose to forgo his birthday present to help a shelter dog, also named Sawyer, at the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County.
The 7-year-old initially wanted a Nintendo Switch 2 for his birthday, but ultimately decided to donate all of his birthday money to the shelter.
This act of generosity touched the hearts of many. He even received an anonymous gift of $1,000!
Sawyer’s story ended on a high note as he received his brand-new Nintendo Switch 2, and the dog he helped was adopted into a loving home!
A non-profit organization works to create a more compassionate and connected society.
Belong Center is a nonprofit organization that brings people together and empowers them to create a culture of belonging.
It invites people to tap into the shared experience of being human.
By creating safe environments where people can share their stories, the organization aims to build a bridge of understanding and foster a deeper sense of connection.
“Social disconnection leads to an increase in stroke, an increase and heart disease, an increase in depression, and even an increase in death. I think a lot of people think of loneliness and belonging as these sort of fluffy, nice-to-have issues. These aren’t nice to have issues. These are at the crux of our health and our well-being and our humanity,” said Becca Bernstein, chief community and operations officer for Belong Center.

When 7-year-old Sawyer decided to give his birthday money to the Humane Society, he didn’t know that his kindness would start a chain of events that would inspire multiple people and help a dog with his name get adopted. He just wanted to do something to help a dog who needed it.
We always say it, but there are so many opportunities to lend a hand to someone else, to make a difference, to show people they are not alone and there is still kindness in the world, despite all the negativity we see.
We hope these weekly stories inspire you and remind you of the goodness in the world. Have a great week and take care of yourselves!
