One woman with autism inspires others to express their real self.

The term ‘masking’ is used to describe behaviors that neurodiverse people adopt to fit in. They mimic the body language, habits, and facial expressions of neurotypicals to become more socially acceptable.

Flo is autistic and has spent much of her life hiding who she is. She would put on a mask to hide her differences due to the fear of judgment and to avoid bullying. But now she is finally learning to unmask.

Through a short film dedicated to her mum, she expresses her readiness to live authentically as her real self.

Her heartfelt message is inspiring other autistic people to be themselves and live life fully.

 

Murphy the Golden Retriever helps build a special home for his squirrel BFFs, Chippy and Peanut.

 

The adorable clips of golden retriever Murphy hanging out with his squirrel friends Chippy and Peanut looks like something straight out of an animated movie!

Every day, Murphy eagerly awaits by the door to play with Chippy and Peanut. He brings different gifts for them as well.

Murphy also helped his grandpa build a picnic table and a small home for his friends. Chippy and Peanut were visibly ecstatic to receive such amazing gifts from Murphy!

The beautiful friendship between a gentle, loving dog and his squirrel friends is a great example of love without boundaries.

“This whole journey has been precious to witness. It’s The story of friendship without boundaries. It’s trust it’s kindness and we’re just so happy to be a part of all of this,” said Judie.

 

This man is making a difference in his community with cookouts.

Clinton resident Lonnie White hosts the “Gathering”, a yearly tradition where he cooks food for hundreds of people.

Lonnie found his passion to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic. He wanted to show his gratitude to first responders and law enforcement officers.

The community members call him a ‘hometown hero’ for his acts of generosity. Despite his struggles, he finds his strength and purpose in lending a helping hand to others.

“He’s just a very selfless individual who, he puts others before himself quite a bit,” J.C. Townsend, a captain with the Clinton Fire Department.

“I used to be like a bunny rabbit, on and on and on and on, but I’ve currently slowed down to one battery now and that’s what keeps me going. Friends and family, you know, and doing things for people, always been that way,” said Lonnie.

 

This social inclusion project helps individuals with a disability to enjoy canoeing.

 

Social Project for People with Disabilities is an organization based in Brazil that is making canoeing more accessible to people with limited mobility.

Their recreational projects are specially designed to help improve the fitness and mental well-being of the participants.

“We are a family. Meeting all these people gave us a new perspective on life, that life didn’t stop after our disability, to have a life beyond it. This has been very good for me,” Flavio Bento, a participant.

You can see the happiness on their faces! Many also report overall improvements in their mental health and really look forward every week to meeting up.
