Schools are introducing meditation breaks to help students manage stress and emotions.

“Remember to breathe”

Meditation prompts are echoing in classrooms across the United States.

Mindfulness programs are being included in curriculums in schools all over the U.S. to help students manage stress and overwhelming emotions.

Students are guided through five-to-10-minute sessions of breathing, meditating, and reflecting. The mindfulness sessions have become one of their favorite parts of the day!

“There are real skills that we can give our teens to make sure that they are coping with some big emotions,” said CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen. 

Meditation for Beginners: How to Unlock the Power of Meditation

 

Woman uses her unique style of artistry to empower the alopecia community.

Abby Wren is a professional makeup artist and advocate for the alopecia community. She uses her bald head as a canvas for her unique and strikingly vivid makeup looks.

Abby is harnessing the power of creativity to spread awareness about inclusivity and encourage people to celebrate their differences. 

With the encouragement of Abby, 10-year-old Elyssa made the brave decision to go out in public bald for the first time.

Elyssa looked absolutely adorable with her makeup and winning smile!

“I kind of feel that you know as an older woman having gone through that experience 20 years ago and it just lives with me every day. It’s my responsibility to, kind of, create a space and to be a voice for these kids because then they can do that for the next generation,” said Abby.  

 

Educators give welcome gifts to get students excited about the first day of school

The faculty and staff members at Crittenden County Schools went above and beyond to welcome newly enrolled students into the school family.

As a part of the Kindness Initiative campaign, each student received an official school T-shirt, wristband, and yard sign.

The faculty members personally visited each student to help them feel more prepared to begin school.

“It was priceless to see the expression on our future Rocket faces. They were like, ‘We matter enough that they made a special visit just to see us,'” said Crittenden County School Board Chair Chris Cook. 

 

This content creator turns local heroes into internet icons!

Nicolas Nuvan, a content creator from New York City is doing the amazing work of empowering small business owners and elevating community voices!

He walks around talking to people about their experiences, highlighting their businesses.

His videos have helped local business owners reach customers from all around the world!

“Growing up we idolized famous people, but like, Nikki and all the people watching right now are the real famous people, like these are the people we should be learning from,” said Nicolas.
