As summer comes to an end, we begin to feel the pressure of getting back to business.
A sense of urgency creeps in and we shift gears to cope with a faster pace of life.
Many of us still associate September with that back-to-school feeling despite being out of school for decades.
It just goes to show the extent of the impact our habits, and routines have on us.
The actions you take, and the thoughts you believe as truth day in and day out, year after year become deeply wired in your brain.
Adopting minimalist habits can definitely simplify your life!
Starting Fresh
The end of summer feels like something new is about to start.
Dig deeper into the feelings you are experiencing right now.
Self-reflection can put you on a path to greater happiness and well-being!
Instead of jumping back into hustle mode, make time to rest in the aliveness of the present moment so you can find your own pace.
Are You Good at Self-Reflection? How to Start Your Practice
Set Some New Goals!
While January is the most common time to set resolutions or intentions for the year, September can be the perfect launching pad for your end-of-the-year goals and intentions.
Let this time of the year inspire you to embrace a new beginning. Set fresh intentions that will bring you in alignment with what you desire.
Simplify your life.
September offers a great opportunity to navigate the rest of the year with a renewed sense of motivation. Avoid spreading yourself too thin by setting too many lofty goals. Go for goals that encourage adaptability and openness.
Having well-defined goals is the key to making choices that empower you.
Your goals could be:
- Letting go of comparing yourself to others
- Speaking to yourself with kindness
- Setting healthy boundaries
- Learning to go with the flow of life
- Reducing screen time and being more present
- Avoiding unnecessary purchases
- Letting go of arbitrary social standards
You’re Changing!
The seasons have changed and so have you.
A lot has happened over the last few months.
Your goals might have changed, and you might feel a lingering sense of restlessness due to the unexpected circumstances you had to face.
Take it easy on yourself for the rest of the year.
Use this transition period to simplify your world and let go of what prevents you from living life fully – whether it’s:
- limiting beliefs
- social pressure to meet traditional life milestones
- distractions
- or goals that you’ve outgrown
Instead of focusing too much on what’s ending, open your heart to what’s about to begin.
Plan your days to incorporate quiet moments of introspection. These moments will help you to balance your state of mind and define what you really want.
Come home to yourself and reclaim your tranquility. Say yes to a full, awakened life!
Throwback to September 2023 – Facing Your Fears
Racing heart, sweaty palms, a knot in the stomach – our fears sure know how to make a grand entrance.
And sometimes, their presence isn’t too obvious; they bubble under the surface, slowly eating away at our peace.
No matter how daunting your fear may seem, it is a feeling after all. And all feelings are temporary. They always pass.
Don’t let fear control your life.
Our fears spin a web of worst-case scenarios and keep us trapped in it.
When you confront your fears, you gain the courage to move forward regardless, of what they tell you. And you realize that your worst-case scenarios aren’t real after all.
Changing Your Response to Fear
This month, challenge yourself to change your response to fear.
Fears make you feel uncomfortable, and believing what they tell you will only lead to regret and dissatisfaction.
Facing your fears can also be uncomfortable, but you know you will come out stronger and gain freedom and peace.
If you don’t face your fears, they will get stronger. And they will continue to control every aspect of your life.
Sitting with your fears can be an incredibly overwhelming experience. But once you ride out that first wave of intense emotions, it gets easier.
Just keep breathing through it.
Use relaxation techniques and affirmations to calm your nervous system and release all fear-based thoughts.
Mindfulness allows you to detach from your thoughts and embrace a broader perspective. You learn to see the bigger picture and understand that many of your fears aren’t based on reality.
Facing Your Fears
Let your thoughts settle down. Once your mind is still, you can uncover the source of your fears and choose your response.
Be kind to yourself as you learn to face your fears. You will stumble a lot in this journey. But don’t get discouraged.
Don’t give up.
A lot of things are not in our control and we can’t predict what might happen next, but we can always make the choice to try our best.
Even when things don’t go as planned, you can choose to learn from your experiences and try a new approach.
Fears are about what may happen in the future.
When you choose to live in the present moment and accept your life for what it is, it gets easier to let go of worries about what might happen.
Keep an open mind as you experience your life unfolding one moment at a time.
