Every week, we highlight the stories of such kind-hearted people who drive positive change in the world and remind us of our interconnectedness.
In separateness lies the world’s greatest misery; in compassion lies the world’s true strength. — Buddha

Thousands came together to support a 10-year-old boy who was bullied.
Bullying can have severe adverse lasting effects on children.
A bullying incident landed 10-year-old Hunter Blankenship on the psychiatric floor at the Children’s of Alabama hospital.
Since Hunter is a car lover, his mother, Meghan Fancher posted a small request on social media to cheer him up and get him out of the dark place. The goal was to gather a few people to bring cars and trucks to let him see.
But what unfolded was beyond Meghan’s imagination.
Nearly 1,500 car collectors showed up to support Hunter!
This incredible act of kindness by local car buffs brightened up the day for Hunter.
“I think in the end it’s a happy story. The bully didn’t win, he didn’t get his way. He’s not having the time of his life today, surrounded by people who love him, so I ultimately think it’s a happy story,” said Meghan Fancher, Hunter’s mother.
This company uses sustainable sources of wood to make guitars.
Mahogany and Brazilian rosewood are two of the most common wood types traditionally used to make guitars. But lately, it’s getting harder to source those woods due to ranching and farming. Natural forests are shrinking.
That’s why Taylor Guitars is taking a sustainable approach to guitar building.
They’ve partnered with West Coast Arborists to launch the Urban Wood Initiative, which gives trees a new purpose at the end of their natural life.
This program takes wood that has been removed from urban areas, which otherwise would have ended up in landfills.
CEO Bob Taylor hopes that this initiative will inspire others to be mindful of the environmental impact of guitar building.
“We’re going to use wood more wisely, from non-traditional sources that are more environmentally sound. And we’re going to put trees back in the ground,” said Bob Taylor, the co-founder and CEO of Taylor Guitars in Southern California.
A dog’s heartwarming journey of finding his forever home brings smiles.
This sweet boy, Jones, from the Humane Society of Greater Miami had to wait 1739 days to find his forever home.
Eric & Joey aka The Dog Guys posted Jones’ videos to help him get adopted. Their video reached Brittany, a Tampa Bay resident, who instantly fell in love with Jones as he reminded her of her late dog Lucky.
Brittany has also created an Instagram account for Jones’ to update his shelter family and fans online.
To help him celebrate his huge win, people are sending him treats, beds, and other goodies.
Jones’ journey will surely inspire more people to adopt older dogs who often get overlooked.
Toys for Tots volunteer aims to bring hope and joy to children in need.
Getting a toy from Santa is a memory of a lifetime for Jorge Aguilar. Growing up, his family lacked the means to buy toys. Toys for Tots was there to help him experience the joy of playing with toys.
Now, forty years later, Jorge has made it his mission to pay it forward to kids in need.
Toy drives are not limited to the traditional holiday season. This organization provides toys throughout the year to children whose lives are impacted by natural disasters and other difficult situations.
“I took that ball and ran with it. I got my family involved, my kids, I have two sons. It’s become a family affair. It’s become a passion of mine,” said Jorge.
