Everybody needs someone who believes in them.
And we can all do our part in creating communities where people feel valued and supported.
A few kind words can give a person the courage they need to go after their dreams. Your act of kindness can create ripples of transformation in someone’s life.

Surf Program drives meaningful societal change in the Solomon Islands.
A surf instructor in the Solomon Islands is using her passion to empower girls.
Nagarita Baea is a representative for the Western Solomon’s Surfing Association (WSSA). Her goal is to pave the way for a more inclusive surf culture and challenge stereotypes about men and women in her community.
The women and girls from local villages have limited access to education and economic opportunities. Using surfing as a tool for change, the surf program is improving women’s participation in other areas of society.
Girls are provided a supportive environment where they get the opportunity to engage, have fun, and learn skills they can utilize in all walks of life.
“We provide a safe space for women and girls to participate in activities that would empower them to be who they are, be leaders and step up and be motivated,” said Nagarita.

“He’s the most loving and adventurous cat. Even though he’s grown so much older now, he still behaves like a kid around me. It just seems like he’s just my son like sometimes I forget he’s a cat,” said Jo.

Many aspiring athletes with great potential are often held back by financial constraints.

The organization offers free and low-cost gymnastics programs, workshops on nutrition and time management, which are otherwise out of reach for many low-income families.
Getting exposed to a new sport not only improves the teens’ physical and mental health but also gives them the courage to explore new possibilities.
“I want people to understand that investing in this for kids, it’s going to be making them better overall citizens of the world, because they get out of their neighborhood and see other things, but also, they know what hard work is, and what it takes to be successful,” said Wendy.
Hawker serves affordable meals to help the less fortunate in her community.
Ms. Hani and her parents run the $2.50 Shop at Jalan Kukoh Food Centre in Singapore.
As the name suggests, almost all the items in this shop are sold at affordable prices. Many of her customers are single parents and the elderly who aren’t working due to chronic illness or disability.
Hani is determined to provide affordable and nutritious food to those in need despite the hurdles, whether it’s the ongoing inflation or her parents’ health issues.
“I think ever since I was born, I am thankful that these two are my parents because they are the one who cultivate me to be who I am. The strength that I gain from each of them, you know, Mom has that resilience, and Dad has patience. Those strengths are from both of them. That is what I am today,” said Hani.
