Positively Uplifting Stories | March 17 2025

In the chaos of life, it’s easy to overlook the beautiful gifts and moments of kindness and joy that surround us every day.

Every week, we bring uplifting stories to help you remember that no matter how hard things may seem, there’s still goodness in life. We have to keep our hearts open and embrace the path of greater purpose and connection.

The mind is like a parachute; it works best when open – Frank Zappa

  • A project that engages the younger generation in outback Australia

A radio station run by NG media engages the younger generation in the outback town of Warakurna, in Western Australia.

NG Media is an indigenous-owned media organization that provides a platform for the local population to create and share their own stories. This project aims to empower the indigenous cultural group of Western Australia.

The kids hang out at the radio station after school and learn how to talk on the radio, play their own songs, and talk in language.

Sometimes the littlest voices come up with the biggest ideas!

“Everyone is helping to make it a better place for the people that live here. It is hard and it’s a hard life but the joy that everyone has in their hearts here just makes it every day worth it,” said Kathy Anderson, NG media general manager.

Strawberry Farm aims to revitalize the communities impacted by the 2011 earthquake.

Okuma, a town in Fukushima Prefecture houses the strawberry production complex called Nexus Farm.

The 2011 earthquake caused a major nuclear accident in the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Okuma, forcing all of the local residents to evacuate. The community was largely sealed off for years.

This strawberry farm was established in 2019 in an attempt to revitalize Fukushima’s communities.

The facility is capable of growing 150,000 plants at a time. The team at the Nexus Farm has been actively working to dispel people’s concerns about potential radioactive materials in the crops.

Thanks to the state-of-the-art environmental control systems, the facility engages in year-round cultivation and shipping and sells commercial products.

“If what I can do now to help someone makes them happy or puts a smile on their face then that’s the kind of work I want to do,” said Tokuta Shingo, Factory manager of Nexus Farm Okuma.

A stray cat found his forever home in the most heartwarming way.

When Alex spotted a sacred and hungry stray cat in his yard, he quickly stepped in to help.

He started placing more and more bowls of cat food in his yard, creating a relaxed, non-threatening environment for Cinnabon.

Cinnabon, who at first appeared nervous, slowly learned to trust Alex. The cat eventually warmed up to Alex and made himself at home.

He’s now become a part of Alex’s family.

“He has a really well-balanced life now, being inside and outside when he wants to be. Having an animal that kind of just picked you, that’s really amazing to me,” said Alex.

Organization helps young adults transition into independent living.

For young adults transitioning out of the foster care system, ‘My First Home Program’ provides essential household items for their first homes, all free of cost.

Just in Time for Foster Youth, is a non-profit organization, that’s making a difference in the lives of former foster youth by cultivating community participation.

Foster youth get assistance in choosing items needed for their first homes, from furniture and bedding to cookbooks and cleaning supplies.

Many young adults often lack the family support and resources to transition into independent living. More than the material goods, the sense of belonging and social support that the participants receive from the program is instrumental in improving their quality of life.

“It felt like someone had my back. It felt like people genuinely cared. It felt like I wasn’t alone in it,” said Zach Sandlin, a participant.
